Explore radial symmetry as you learn about American Indian dream catchers. As you draw radial patterns you will work towards making a symmetrical and unique dream catcher. To the circular design you will add feathers that you have learned to draw in this lesson. Once the outlines are completed you will add vibrant colours to give it eye-catching appeal. In this lesson you will apply the concepts of radial symmetry and pattern.

Halloween is fast approaching! Work on your directional blending and shading skills with this Halloween themed three dimensional pumpkin and black cat lesson to make a spooky looking decoration for your home.

Enjoy tearing paper to create feathers for a collage owl. When you use a combination of printed and coloured paper you can develop the texture of feathers to give your owl substance and a sense of reality. To complete the owl use a little texta or pen to add the details of eyes and feet then glue to a background you have prepared earlier.

In Australia, on November 11th, we remember soldiers who have fought to protect our country. learn about when and why Remembrance Day started and why poppies have become the associated with this day. By using a combination of collage and drawing you will make an artwork related to the Remembrance Day theme.

This week you will discover the playful and colourful art of James Rizzi. Once you have looked at his work and identified its main characteristics you will draw and paint a large work in the vibrant Rizzi style. the elements of art that you will emphasised in today's lesson will be line, shape and colour.
25 & 26 November 2016
Printing is a quick way to reproduce many copies of the same piece of art. During this lesson you will draw fish on printing foam that can be inked and printed on paper. The dry fish will be cut out and glued onto a prepared sea background. As well as learning printing techniques you will also work with the concepts of showing space and depth on a flat surface using size and overlapping techniques.

Christmas is approaching quickly. Today you will follow a step by step demonstration to paint a snowman on canvas. You will work on your directional painting, skills in mixing variations of shades and tints and colour gradation. This canvas can be kept or given as a Christmas gift.

Australians are all familiar with Aboriginal dot paintings. The dot or the point is smallest visual mark we make and Aboriginal artists make beautiful and elaborate art just using dots. Other artist such as Georges Seurat, Bridget Riley and Yayoi Kusama have also used just dots in some of their artwork. This week you will work with dots and small circles of various colours to fill an A4 page to discover how these simple marks can make stunning art.
The Term 4 2016 art program offered at Black Forest Primary is 7 weeks in duration due to a student free day and early dismissal in the last week.
